- Leave a blank line between days on both of your logs.
- Do not look up the calories, you will do this after you complete the log for a week.
Finding Calories
You have created a log for 1 week, now it's time to find how many calories you consumed and burnt.
- Open your Food Log spreadsheet from your Google Drive.
- Open another tab and go to the CalorieKing website.
- You can then search by typing in the food or by restaurant.
- After you have put the calories for each food, go to the exercise log on your Google Spreadsheet.
- In another tab, go to the MyFitnessPal website.
- Search by typing in the type of exercise, enter your weight and the duration for which you did that activity.
- Input the number of calories burnt for each exercise you logged.
Calculating Calories Consumed
- Go back to your food log. You will now calculate the number of calories consumed EACH DAY and then a total calorie count for the week.
- In the blank line you left between days you will enter the day of the week and the words TOTAL CALORIES (example: MONDAY TOTAL CALORIES) in column titled Food.
- In the Calories total, on the Total Calories line, you will enter the Sum Formula and select the cells that have calories for that particular day (example: =sum(D3:D9)).
- At the bottom of the page, you will calculate your total calories consumed for the entire week, again using the Sum Formula and using each cell that had a daily total in it (example: =sum(D10+D20+D27+D34+D40+D52+D64)).
- You need to check this with a calculator to make sure you did not miss a daily total.
Calculating Calories Burnt
- Go into your exercise log again. You will now calculate the number of calories you burnt each day and then a total burnt for the entire week.
- You will use the same formula as before to calculate totals for each day, still using the blank line as you did for calories consumed.
- Calculate a total calories burnt for the entire week at the bottom of your exercise log.
After you have all of the above done, complete this worksheet.
